How does ASPPA work?
ASPPA currently has two processing plants that guarantee the processing and marketing of its associates’ pistachios in optimal conditions.
These processing plants are organic production certifified as established by Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 of the Council of June 28, 2007, on the production and labeling of organic products.
In the mid-term ASPPA will be expanding its structure, creating a wider network by increasing the number of collection and processing points, to be able to absorb the expected increase in the amount of pistachio and to improve the service to current and future associates not only throughout the province of Albacete but also in the provinces of Cuenca, Ciudad Real and Toledo.
SPAIN’S PISTACHIO GROWERS is the brand ASPPA offers its pistachio processing and marketing services through, managing the two enterprises founded by the ASPPA members for this purpose. These enterprises are:
ISLA VERDE DE MONTALVOS, S.L.
It is the company that manages the processing plant located in Montalvos in the province of Albacete. In this plant the just harvested pistachio is received and the process of peeling and drying the product is carried out. These facilities, equipped with the most up-to-date machinery in the sector, have a processing capacity of around 45,000 kg/day at full capacity.
CULTIVADORES DE PISTACHOS ECOLÓGICOS DE ESPAÑA, S.L.
It is the company that manages the processing plant located in Barrax, in the province of Albacete. Once the pistachio has been shelled and dried at the Montalvos plant, it is transferred to the Barrax plant where pistachio processing continues, leaving it calibrated, packaged and ready for sale. The commercial team of CULTIVADORES DE PISTACHOS ECOLOGICOS DE ESPAÑA, S.L., with extensive experience in exports and in-depth knowledge of the sector, is positioning ASPPA pistachios in the main European organic markets.
